A Change in Direction.

So after some thought, we here at Felons can vote have deciding to shift direction a little. Our focus is still on felons, but we are going to work towards our original goal of battling disenfranchisement. We will no longer limit ourself to post on voting rights and the like out content will now include more on programs that are out there fro felons to take advantage of. We want to help felons and those who are entering society with all the tools we can give. It is our goal to help create all the inroads we can against all these roadblocks that may arise in your journey to reintegration. We are her to answer any questions we can. It is our goal to help research any program or offer out there to help make this journey all the easier. Reintegration into society is a hard task and an uncomfortable one at that. It can get lonely at times, and we want you to know that you have a friend on this journey.

Think Before Your React

How Many of you have seen this post or one similar to it on one social media site or another? How many of you have, if only for a brief moment, thought about this? How many of you read it and shared it without giving any thought to its credibility? I for one will admit that although I did not repost it, I did, however, reshare this information verbally with my wife! After, thinking to myself how incredulous it sounded, I and took a moment to fact check this information only to find that it is false.

I know that it will come as no surprise that a vast portion of any information we are fed on the internet, and especially social media is very loosely based on fact and always more likely than not twisted or skewed to fit an individual's agenda. Truthfully even the post you will read here will have been written with some form of a goal in mind. There is nothing wrong with that in principle unless there is something wrong with the principles.

It is our job as the reader or in a case of an election, to ferret out the truth, and not just the truth of the article but the truth of the intent. What is driving the author, what does he, she or they intend to accomplish by producing any form of media for us to devour? In this day and age of citizen journalism, the internet is bursting with I wide variety of stories about just about anyone and anything, ranging from the downright annoying to the unbelievably scandalous. With little to no actual oversite on a lot of these articles out there, it is your job; it is my job to find the truth out there. It is our duty to find the facts of the matter BEFORE we choose to repost or spread what can either be truth or more vitriol! But, hey don't just take my word for it. Maybe Mexico does have a wall. Go on now, Do your job.

What Now?

Well, it seems that Donald Trump has won the presidential election before you grab your closest suitcase and head for the Canadian border or run to the store to purchase your favorite celebratory beverage you should understand a few things. mainly that immigrating to Canada is not as easy as it wouls seem or certain beverages leave you filled with regrets the next day.
it is also important for you to understand that although Mr. Trump is president we have a system in place in our government that puts many checks and balances in place so that although he may be commander in chief, the president cannot run around and just start making radical changes to our country.
Although we can expect to see changes in the near future the majority of our everyday lives will remain unchanged and unaffected to this changing of the guard.
never the less I imagine that we are all in for a very entertaining next four years, I hope you will remain our friends here at felons can vote and experience the ride together.
Thank you and good night.
